Pictures of ankoles. Ankole-Watusi Cattle are also known as "the cattle of kings", due to their importance in african tribal social status. The Ankoles with the biggest and longest horns belonged to the King and were considered sacred.
Due to their amazing ability to survive conditions of little or no food and water, the ankole cattle's ancestory may be traced back as early as 15,000 BC. Today these cattle are found mainly in Eastern Africa and are still highly prized as status symbols among tribal members.
