Animal: Patagonian Cavy
Species: The scientific name for a Cavy is Dolichotus patigonum.
Lifespan: In the wild, a vay will live for 5-7 years. In captivity Cavys can live to 10 years.
Size & Weight: Cavies are the 3rd largest rodent int he world. They're 18in tall and 25lbs.
Habitat: Cavies inhabit the grassland and scrub deserts of central and south Argentina. THey sometimes live in burrows that were made by other animals.
Diet: Cavies are herbivores and eat grass, leaves and various other vegetation.
Family Life: Cavies are social animals and live in groups of up to 30 cavies! Though they usually travel as a pair or small family unit as they mate for life.
