Pictures of Rome, Italy. A crowded tourist trap full of beggars and thieves. We docked about a two hour drive away from Rome, so we spent more time on a bus than anything else. Not a good way to start a trip. On the upside, visiting Rome made me interested in history for the first time in my life. In Rome it's very clear that the long history of the city has shaped it today--things like the Egyption runes that were stolen thousands of years ago. If you go to Rome, you'd better have a tour guide, or you'll never get into some of the more interesting exhibits (like the Colliseum). On the downside, I hate tour guides.
