Hornbills, Hornbill Pictures, Facts, and Information

Pictures of hornbills with detailed information about the bird. Hornbills weigh up to 6.5 pounds and can live to be 47 years old.

They eat fruits, insects, and other small animals. They can eat up to 150 figs in one meal. They've never been seen drinking water in the wild, so they probably get water from the foods they eat.

Great hornbills live in the forest canopies of India and Southeast Asia. They form flocks of 6 to 21 members, and like all hornbills, they nest in tree holes. After mating, the pair seals the opening of the tree hole with mud and leave a small slit to feed the female and the young, and to eject poop.
