Animal: Starfish

Species: There are 1,800-2,000 species of starfish including the Blue sea star, Carpet sea star, Japanese sea star, and Pink sea star.

Lifespan: Starfish can live over 35 years! Generally the larger species live longer than smaller species of starfish.

Size & Weight: The smallest species of starfish isPatiriella Parvivipara, which is only .18 inches! The largest starfish get to be 4-6 ft in diameter!

Habitat: Starfish can be found in oceans all over the world. They live in rocky sea beds, some live in coral beds, while others live in estuaries.

Diet: Most starfish eat mussels, worms, and crustaceans.

Family Life: Though starfish can be found in plentiful numbers, they are not social animals. They reproduce either asexually, by severing a peice of themself off and creating a new starfish, or by letting eggs and sperm off intot he water where they will fertilize with eachother.

• If a starfish loses one of its limbs, it can grow it back!
• Some starfish use waer to pry opena  mussel shell, and then put their stomach inside the shell to start digesting their food!
