There are about 40 different species of Toucans. They are near passerine land birds that dwell in neotropic regions.  The toucans signature large beak, though half its body size, is lightweight and used to reach fruit, and regulate the birds body temperature. Some other characteristics of toucans include:

• Strong short legs
• Not sexually dimorphic (boys and girls look alike)
• A long thin tongue
