Water Bird Pictures

Pictures of water birds, including herons, cranes, egrets, flamingos, ibises, pied avocets, spoonbills, storks, and sunbitterns.

We’re using the term “waterbirds” loosely to define birds that most people imagine when they think of a bird that dwells in and around water. The family Anatidae includes ducks, geese, and swans. Seagulls are in the family Laridae, but are related to wader birds. Cormorants belong to the family phalacrocoracidae, which has 40 species in it, alone.

The unifying trait of all of these birds, though they are from different families, is that they spend the majority of their time in water, and surviving off what it has to offer.
