Western Pygmy Rattlesnake

Western Pygmy Rattlesnake
Western Pygmy Rattlesnake pictures (Sistrurus miliarius ssp.).

The rattlesnakes pictured here are often "ground rattlers". Technically, they're small pit vipers, and they live in Louisiana and nearby states. They produce an insect-like buzz.

They're as poisionouse as larger rattlesnakes, but beacuse of their small size, they only produce a small amount of poison. Because of that, they typically only eat smaller animals, such as frogs, mice, lizards, and birds.
