Animal: Serval

Species: The scientific name for a servil is Leptailurus serval.

Lifespan: The Serval can live up to 19 years.

Size & Weight: Servals are about 2-3ft long and weigh 20-40lbs.

Habitat: Servals are found in Africa, south of the Sahara desert. They prefer to live in savannas and forest that are near waterways.

Diet: Though Servals are relatively small compared to other wild cats, they hunt fairly large game. Serval have been seen eating deer, gazelle and springbok. Though usually they eat frogs, rodents, insects, fish, and reptiles.

Family Life: Though servals are generally solitary animals, males sometimes rest together. Once a male and female meet up to mate, the female goes off alone to find a den for her kittens. Once born, the mother keeps her kittens around until the males can hunt for themselves. Females, however, are aloud to stay witht heir mother for longer and may stay by her side untilt hey are 2 years old.
